This past weekend the National Science Olympiad was held at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. The weekend wrapped up with the State Directors and VIPs Season Celebration Meeting on Sunday, where several awards were presented.
The Heart of Gold Award ...
... is presented to individuals involved in Science Olympiad who embody our mission. These honorees demonstrate outstanding dedication to improving the lives of students and educators by inspiring a love of learning, encouraging collaboration, and promoting excellence in science and beyond. Their contributions make Science Olympiad stronger and more impactful.
We are thrilled to share that Gordon Lipscy received a Heart of Gold Award!
Dan Nichols , Science Olympiad Executive Director, stated the following:
"I want to give a Heart of Gold to a truly deserving gentleman, who has been a State Director for over a decade in one of the states where Science Olympiad first started. As the State Director of the Delaware Science Olympiad, Gordon has exemplified exceptional leadership and commitment. His tireless efforts in organizing state tournaments and fostering STEM education have not only ensured a seamless and enriching experience for participants but have also highlighted the spirit of collaboration and excellence that Science Olympiad stands for."

We were honored to have Krista Griffith, a Delaware State Representative of the 12th district, join us for the Division C Tournament on March 1st, 2025 at Cab Calloway School of the Arts. Representative Griffith presented a tribute to Delaware Science Olympiad from the Delaware State Legislature.
Before the presentation, Representative Griffith observed several of our building events, including Ping Pong Parachute, our Delaware Trial Event, and Helicopters. She was also presented with a Concord High School Science Olympiad Shirt.
Representative Griffith presented the Tribute Certificate to start our Awards Ceremony and then awarded the 1st place medals in all events! She lauded the energy of the tournament.
